Little Miss Magic...

Mangrove Mama's is the place to be for four ladies who lunch! We venturing down to Key West for a day of shopping, fun and general nuttiness! It's my last week of vaycay and I will be venturing home to normalcy-as much as I usually subscribe to! Some semblance of routine and reuniting with Mickey are some things I look forward to with great anticipation. And getting my vodka soaked butt back in the gym-muumuus do not bode well for the suburban Detroit area! Have a wonderful week and next week I hopefully can gather a cogent thought for a real blog! xo

Mick Maguire....

Happy St. Paddy's Day-one day late As I have explained in the past, I am a terrible Irishman. I do not like Irish beer, music or food. However, my brother (my Mom is dogsitting) sent me this pic of Mickey who is in full Irish regailia and most certainly has the spirit. Why this poor pooch constantly puts up with our humiliation for sport is beyond me. Somehow the old ghetto mutt manages to look like an elderly Irish dude with a five o'clock shadow just thirstin' for a green beer! Party on dear Mickster! And everyone else who may or may not be nursin' the hangover today! xo Enjoy this unseasonably warm weather! xo

Kinky Reggae....

Arrrrggg, from the Marathon Seafood Festival! Dig my groovy little walking stick that may come in handy should I have to vote somebody off the island..or just become a tad bit over served! Seafood, art, great local bands and beer are the order of the day with pirates wandering about. I love this big party and look forward to it every year at this time.

Two weeks have come and gone and I haven't read a newspaper or watched the news. And I don't miss it at all. It's crazy how quickly a person can switch gears and get into island mode. I love the quiet head space and lack of any real routine, but as of yet, have not yet taken advantage of it, creatively speaking that is. Unless you count painting a sun porch and inviting shade of aqua. One would think with all this time and beauty around me that the creativity would just pour out of me. Yesterday in Key West, I even roamed the streets frequented by Hemingway (among others) himself, and still-I got nuthin'. Even blogging was a day late with no real organized thought. Maybe if I drank as much rum as the Papa, I could be similarly inspired, but being more a vodka girl, that's unlikely.

Maybe I will take a hint from Lola, who I see has found a spot in the sun to curl up and stare at the ocean. Looks like She has the right idea, which is NO idea at all. Y'all have a chill week, with St. Patrick's Day on the horizon, the Keys have another reason to party-as if the nightly sunsets weren't enough! xo

Red Solo Cup...

Hello Darlings from the beautiful Florida Keys. It is our annual Sloth, Indulgence and Debauchery tour involving all the the aforementioned activities. In addition, I noticed some new shoppes and restaurants on the way down and will be happy to support the economy in anyway I can. I have lots of company coming down to join in the fun and my ipad is loaded up phat! The pool looks warm and inviting and the harbor has some beautiful boats anchored up enjoying the safe refuge. And there is no place better than the Florida Keys for out and out laziness. They don't call it the Keys Disease for nuthin'! Nobody, but nobody moves too quickly here. Because it is 'high season' here, a simple trip to Publix for groceries must be met with patience and many deep breaths. Since patience is most defiantly not my strongest virtue, I have found that a couple of strong cocktails do help to aid in the process. And nobody gets hurt.. We joke that Publix is also called 'Heavens Waiting Room'-a fate that will be ours soon enough!
However, one thing NOT on the usual vacation plan, (for most people) is cutting their own moulding at Home Depot. Yes, it's true. Another remodeling project is underway, this time converting a former sun porch into an extra bedroom, and today I learned how to cut base trim to the proper size. And as near as I can figure out, photo ops are not the usual happening in the lumber department. I adore painting and remodeling-from the design to the shopping and then the execution of said design. I get made fun of constantly for indulging my passion while on vacation. But it's relaxing for me and I love it. Instant gratification tricked out in aqua blue.

And I pose the burning question, what are your favorite vacation/time off activities? Do you sight see or chill out or what? See new places or mostly hit favorite spots? Sleep in or pop up ready to rock? I am always interested in your outlook on such things. Let me know, k? I'll be patiently waiting...
