Peaches and Cream...

Hey and happy Monday!  I love the warming trend  that  we are enjoying in Detroit with 40 degree temps that are melting everything.

So what else is warm today?  Mild temps that eradicate the ice off the deck, so poor Mickey can run out without the danger or breaking a hip.  Welcoming hugs and hospitality from friends making the first day of the week worth it all.  The bonds of a special friendship that gets together on a winter Monday night to enjoy food and wine.  Conversation full of warm laughter and concern, that comes from familiarity and love.   The hot s'more dessert that warms the tummy and makes us vow to make a hot sweat happen tomorrow!

So we forge on through these dark days knowing that we will survive.  The days are actually getting longer.  With the help of friends, winter will pass and the spring will be here before we know it.  Thank you to good friends, Kristin and Bob, Lexi and Elle.  You brighten my dark, cold days.  Love and thank you. xoxo

Also, Happy Birthday to friend Rose-hope your day was as special as you! xo

Stay warm and find comfort wherever you can.  It's all we can do.... xo

All That's Left...

"The time is always right to do what is right." Martin Luther King Jr.
Today that simple quote was my reality made possible by a total stranger.  After stopping by at a home décor store for a quick browse, I found myself in a bit of a snafu.  My keys were not in my purse-I checked twice.  Fearing the worst and enduring the frigid temps, I ran out to my car.  Saying a quick prayer, I peered thru the window at the ignition of Sascha Fierce.  It was keyless.  Phew-I think....

Back in the store, I emptied my purse completely.  No keys.  I didn't remember carrying them in and I didn't think I had laid them down on a shelf.  But trusting myself at this point to remember anything seemed futile.  I decided to ask the counter girl if any keys had been turned in.  "Why, yes, you mean the Mustang keys?   Let me call up my manager."   You can only imagine my relief.  The manager came up and handed me my treasure saying that someone noticed them on the roof of my car and turned them in hoping I was in the store.  Luckily it was a good Samaritan that did not want my car or the duffle bag of gym stuff in it!  I've heard all the horror stories of people who steal your garage remote and get your address from your glove compartment holding your registration.  But none of that was to be my worry today.  Someone chose to do the right thing.  Thank you to that person and to all of you who make the effort.  I owe you big time! xo   Happy Martin Luther King Day to you.    xoxo

Rest in Peace  Glen Frey.  You were one of my favorites and I'm happy I got to see you this fall. xo

Ziggy Stardust...

You may have remembered that last week I was back in the E.R. with severe stomach pains.  After futile testing, once again, I have learned a new word.  Are you ready?  Idiopathic.  The definition is this:  A disorder with an unknown cause.  The docs just cannot find an origin for this pain that I keep experiencing.  Even with advances in medical testing, sometimes there are things just cannot be explained.  Fabulous.  So I will accept this possibility and pray it doesn't happen too often.  My 'condition' solidly roots me in the category of unsolved mysteries.  Who killed Marilyn Monroe?  Is there truly a Bigfoot?  Where is Jimmy Hoffa?  Bermuda Triangle?  The Sphinx?  Pretty good company, huh?

In other stunning news, I got to spend a wonderful afternoon with my surrogate son, Tony.  As Dane's college buddy and later roommate, we share a strong bond in our love for him.  We started out our visit by taking Mickey for a stroll around the hood enjoying a mild, sunny day.  We then went through Dane's vast and varied album and c.d. collection.  I had promised Tony this music a year and a half ago.  Slowly we looked at and inspected each of the albums that were carefully preserved in special 'sleeves'.  Each of us shared stories about time spent with Dane being the d.j. that spun the vinyl for us.  We marveled and laughed remembering how he would make us listen to specific mixes and educate us on the musicians and their history.  From classical to early punk, Dane's knowledge and passion was amazing.

I then dug out some pics I came across recently.  Dane, Tony and baby Mickey from back in the day.  Slowly we reviewed  them all with eyes searching for clues.  What we found was happiness and hope.  And love.  That explains the pain in my heart.  xo

R.I.P. David Bowie.  Get up there with the rest of the band!

Sax...

After 24 hours of extreme stomach pain, I am off to the E.R. AGAIN!  Not exactly how I planned to start the first week of 2016.  Hope y'all are off to a much better start.  I'll let you know if it's a boy or a girl (teehee) next week!    xoxo
