Heart of Stone...

Welcome to my week of wonderment.
Note these little beauties I spotted in the parking lot of my gym.  What do you suppose the story on these can be?  Did the person find a better pair of shoes and just traded out his slippers.  Instead of using his garbage to dispose of them, maybe he just ditched them in the parking lot.   Maybe he's working out in his tennis shoes and will change back into the slippers later?  Hmmm..I wonder...
And later, while strolling on the beach, I saw this darling heart of stones.  I wonder if the artist is in love or maybe just in love with the beach-as I am!  Either way, it made me smile.
And lastly, at Pac's Backyard, the chalkboard gave this great piece of advice.  As I pondered it I wondered;  could I go 24 hours without complaining-even once?  I have to believe that practicing positivity would surely be life changing.  I plan to make a conscious effort.  It can't hurt, right?

Have a great week and enjoy the simple wonders around you! XO

Party Crowd....

Good morning, Starshine!  How's your week going?  Here's my riveting update...

Last Friday, with our hubs fishing in PANAMA, two wild and crazy chicks wasted no time hitting up MacRay's for the annual neon pool party event.  Fluffed and sporting our neon (sort of!) we were ready to slay....  However; in normal Jodi and Kristin style, first we needed some salmon and wine.  Full and emboldened, we decided that the party was lame and hauled the show down the road to Bumpers where the boating crowd is it's own special party!   And it did not disappoint. The security guard noticed us jockeying for a parking spot and kindly assisted us and escorted us up to the door, promising to guard 'Berry Manilow' with his life.

A packed crowd and rockin' band were in full force as we elbowed our way to the bar.  As semi-regulars, the bar chickie quickly handed us our vodka.  We located our friends, Tom and Bob who generously made room for us at their table.  We caught up with gym buds as well as old friends-Bobby and Julie!  Boats were coming and going with more revelers and even some cute dogs to fawn over-and it doesn't get any better than that.

Where did these shots come from?

A gorgeous sunset and a full moon signaled the end of the party for us and we headed out to Berry.  It was 10 p.m. and two party animals were done.

Ten o'clock?  We are such wimps!

Party on Kristin....Party on Jodi!

Pass at Me...

On Friday morning I hauled my cookies out of bed early to get a jump start on the 'The Yard Sale Trail.'  In case you are unaware the YST is 150 miles of yard and garage sales that start in New Baltimore and end in Sebawing, Michigan.  I had my gear for the weekend packed, my waist wallet strapped on with plenty of cash.  I had a large Tim Ho's iced coffee in hand as well as a packed lunch and a full gas tank.  Rock and Roll hottchiecoo!

My pursuit of nautical antiques and such started in Port Huron and proceeded north.  I perused many sales on the lakeside and risked life and limb crossing M25 to check out the other side.  Many sales later, I had purchased 2 burlap bags to reupholster a bench and an old wooden puzzle that had the states and their capitals outlined.  My grand total was $2.00.  Many sales later,  I pondered cool things from used deodorant (what the hell?) to used Harley Davidson motorcycles.  Lots of interesting stuff, but nothing that truly rang my bell. Not even a single velvet Elvis!

By the time I hit Lexington, I was ready for lunch.  I pulled over at a beautiful roadside stop and enjoyed my packed goodies at a picnic table in the sun, with a view of the lake. Pure Michigan, I tell ya!

I proceeded on and finally gave up.  I didn't need any cheap knock off anything's and I was ready to chill out at the cottage.  It was a fun day and a learning experience-both in resale as well as humanity.

Now if I can only find a bench to use those cool coffee sacks!  Have a great week my Lovelies! XO

Room to Follow...

Happy August!!

As many of you know, Randy and I's dream beach house is finally being built.  Years of planning and dreaming is being realized as we speak.  It's very exciting as well as a giant hassle.  There are so many details and decisions to be made.  And of course, it's taking much longer that expected.

The new digs are on the property we already own and have enjoyed for years.  Our old beach house was tiny-440 square feet of paradise with a 550 square foot deck.  We actually had a 'tiny house' before it was a thing.  It has been our place of escape and solace, and we loved it.  BUT, it was time.  We are ready for a little more wiggle room plus insulation and a real kitchen.  And closets!  I will now have an extra bedroom and guest bath for family and friends.  The new modern style is more of a reflection of our personal taste. One more BUT here.....we had to demo the old place.

On a chilly day in June, Randy, Mark and I stood by while our little haven was knocked over and scooped up into a truck.  We had already rescued all of the personal items that will be used in the new place.  So, when it crumbled, I was totally okay.  That little place did what it was supposed to do and I'll never forget the good times.  As a person not attached to things, I will always have my fond memories.

So onward and upward.  The extra room and comfort of the new place will probably have us spending a little more time up north.  You know I love the beach, so that's cool with me.

Cheers to the little beach shack and may she rest in peace.  Have a wonderful week, my pretties!
