Treacherous…

Happy February!  As the weather man promises a snowstorm and more frigid temps, be sure to stock up on staples-books and wine and get ready to hunker down, temporarily.  It’s gonna be treacherous on the roads, so I will be moving in about a two mile radius-only as necessary.  Hazel promises to be my snuggle buddy for my planned Hygge time.  Gotta accept the things you cannot change, right?  And Michigan weather is certainly one of them.

Stay safe and warm my friends and pray that the extreme cold kills all the funky germs out there!  XO

Turn the Page…

Riddle me this…Who has ‘Swimmimg’ stuck on their cuticles, ‘Poshy Peach’ on their elbows, and ‘Sea Glass’ on their knees?   Give up?  That would be the dynamic duo, a.k.a. ‘The Short Stuff Painting and Cleaning’ team of me and my Mom!  Paint clings to us as we freshen up all our new rooms.  As true painting fanatics, the walls must be the perfect vibe!  Thankfully, I have my Mom-paint and cleaner extrodinare to help me with the process!

Randy and I are downsizing to a condo-a whole 2.2 miles away!  Ready to lighten up our loads, we have been sorting, donating, and packing up our house.  It is a big change, but we welcome it.  Twenty years of laughter and tears at our present home is catalyst for us to turn the page.  No more lawn work and much less work overall.  More time for reading-yay!

We are exhausted but pleased with our results.  Moving and all its preparations are life changing.  And I say BRING IT ON!  Let’s do the damn thing!  Onward and upward!  We are very excited for a fresh new start with a new view.

So thank you to my Mom-you are the best and I couldn’t have done it without you!  All love.  XOXO

Shining Star…

In all the third Monday’s in January that I have attempted to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, I have never came across this very quote.

How accepting and loving to ourselves and others would it be if we could just accept things for what they are?  In this world where we may feel the pressure to be prettier, smarter, richer and more in control- how amazing would it be, to just BE?  What could we do and feel if that ‘pressure’ was forgotten and we just lived without constantly comparing?  Could we love more?  Forgive more?  Care more?

Dr.  King teaches that acceptance is okay.   “If you can’t be a sun, be a star.”  Stars are good enough-don’t you think?  I sure do.  Have a great week-all you lovely shining stars!  And remember and bless you, Dr. Martin Luther King.  XOXO

Less Than Zero...

 I wasn't always a wuss.

Growing up in northern Michigan I was an avid skier, skater, and snowmobiler-embracing the sometimes bracing cold weather.  Here's how you know you are old....we walked three blocks to the bus stop and then waited outside for the bus-no matter the temperature.  We did not have down filled North Face jackets and and our mittens and boots were nowhere near the caliber that I sport today as I go about my way.

Nowadays my car is in a garage and the electric start has me riding warmly with the seat heater and steering wheel heater on high.  And still I am freezing.  My house temp is at seventy degrees and usually my fireplace is on full blast with the heatilator blasting-and still I am usually chilly.  I have a giant plush robe and a wonderful down comforter.  I simply cannot tolerate being cold!

I try not to wish the days away and try to find something good even in the frigid season.  Life's too short to wish time away just for better weather, especially when you live in Michigan-it's part of the deal.  I'll make the best of it and pray that I don't get any wussier!  Stay warm, my friends.   XOXO

Bubbly…

It was a meeting with a mission for the James Blond gang.  Blond, James Blond.  It was epic Blondzilla-bigger than the Tokyo Tower!  Four blond glamazons got together to eat, drink and be very merry as they brought in the New Year, once again proving that blonds truly do have more fun! (At least these blonds do!) Blond ambition at its finest-with mission accomplished.

Now for some unbleached truth…Did y’all catch any of the New Years shows?  Can I just say that I’ve never seen a better display of classless tackiness?  Remember when Dick Clark hosted a show with real talent that bothered to actually dress in something other than a g-string, white tee with a trucker hat?  Seriously.  No glamour or  class and very little talent.  And it’s no wonder there was a wardrobe malfunction with an outfit held together with scotch tape that was two square feet of fabric.  I do not need to see your thong or even your ‘donut’ for that matter.  Is this where we’re at?  Is this now good enough?

Maybe the bleach has gone to my brain, but I simply miss the old days when things were more natural; kinda like my roots.  Happy New Year to you all!  XO
